Oluf Mecklenburg had the son Oluf Meckelburg (b. 1540). Alike his father Oluf the younger became a merchant;—not in his birth town but in that of his father, Flensburg. He became one of the wealthiest merchant in that town. He traded and exported goods from the royal fiefs (Sleswick and Holsatia), and he had extensive connections to Norway. He married Margrethe Carstensdatter, who belonged to the rural nobility of the region. Her parents were Carsten Rickertsen, Mayor of Flensburg, and Marina Friis af Arlevad (Arlewatt).
Their sons Jacob and Oluf Mechlenborg went to Norway, where they became Bailiff of Nordmøre and Bailiff of Helgeland, respectively. Their third son, Carsten Mechlenborg, remained in Haderslev, where he was a merchant and also the town's mayor. On the other hand, many of the latter's children moved to Eastern Norway.

Oluf Olufsen Mechlenborg became one of the most important city of Flensburg merchants, and ran a great business with products from the Royal County. In 1598 and 1602, he was described as a citizen in Flensburg, and traded in Trondheim pin and northern countries. The 4/6-1564, he was married to Margaret Carstens, and her parents were Carsten Richertsen and Mary Frese. The wedding was celebrated lavishly with meaningless extravagant when it came to clothing, jewelry, etc. Oluf Olufsen Mechlenborg was churchwarden, and this probably by St. Mary's Church in Flensburg in 1576.

Oluf Jensen Meckelburg had left his native town Haderslev and became one of Flensburg's leading merchants, who ran a big business with products from the Royal County. In his house ate unmarried high school teachers in the game.
He was first married to an unknown girl from Flensburg.
The wedding between Margaret and Olufsen took place in Flensburg on 4 June 1564, and they say that it was celebrated with an extravagance and senseless wasteful splendor, as well as to dress as jewelry and dishes. Beret planter John Olden Dorph adds, "that he fears as well as the bride groom, will be punished for their uplifted mood."
