Henrik Bjelke , born 13 January 1615 , died 16 March 1683 . The Danish-Norwegian officer and government official. He was one time commander of the Danish Navy. He was the son of chancellor Jens Bjelke and brother of General Jørgen Bjelke and chancellor Ove Bjelke .
As a young man, he enrolled at the University of Padua , but instead sought a military career. His first service he received at Prince Frederik Hendrik of the Netherlands where he became hovjunkare 1640 . He received the title of Christian VI of Denmark who also appointed him Major , though he mostly resided in Orange .
In February 1644 he returned to Denmark , where he was sent home to Norway to serve at Hannibal Sehested . He fought against the Swedes in Hannibal feud and took part in a failed attack against Vanersborg in early February 1645 . After the peace in 1645, he served at Corfitz Ulfeldt . He returned to Denmark and became overlord of Iceland in 1648 and was dubbed even for knights .
His military career began when he in 1653 left the army and became a naval officer . He had where different tasks, but did participate in the battle when Charles X's first Danish war broke out in 1657 . He was appointed Deputy admiral and participated in several battles in the Baltic Sea . The war took a break after the Peace of Roskilde , but soon flared up again. Bjelke operated in the Sound and was Hollander's side at the Battle of the Sound .
Thanks to his military career, he gained political power and was elected councilor in 1660 . He supported Frederick III of Denmark's introduction of absolute monarchy . In 1660 he became president of the admiralty and 1,662 nationwide admiral and member of State College and the Supreme Court . He was a loyal friend to Corfitz Ulfeldt and Leonora Christina , something possibly affected his position. In Skåne war he brought no command, but instead had an administrative role in Copenhagen .
In 1679 , he left the admiralty on account of old age.
